The European BETTER project, led by Datrix, was born with an ambitious vision: to make health data analysis more secure, distributed, and effective. Based on Federated Learning technologies, the project allows for the training of Artificial Intelligence models directly within clinical centers, without the data ever leaving the places where they are generated. The AI “travels” to the data, not the other way around.
Thanks to solutions like PADME and Vantage6, BETTER overcomes the limitations of traditional centralized systems by offering a decentralized, scalable, and GDPR-compliant infrastructure. This approach drastically reduces privacy risks while maintaining high levels of effectiveness in treatment analysis and personalization.
During the “The Köln Chronicles” event, held in Cologne from June 16 to 18, 2025, project partners tested the platform’s application on real clinical cases, including:
- Pediatric intellectual disability
- Inherited retinal dystrophies
- Autism spectrum disorders
The results confirm the platform’s ability to support cross-border collaborative analysis, paving the way for federated medicine that values big data without compromising its protection.
Datrix, as project coordinator, leads the technological development and validation in real-world scenarios. Our mission: to transform clinical research with reliable, transparent, and socially useful AI.
